Ethiopia is preparing for the construction of a nuclear power plant

Ethiopia is carrying out preparatory work for the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in the country. The Ethiopian Minister of Innovation and Technology, Getahun Mekuriya Kuma, stated that Ethiopia wants to build low-power nuclear power units in the next ten years.

In October 2019, during the Russia-Africa Economic Forum, the Russian Federation and Ethiopia signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful atom.

Since the signing of the agreement in Ethiopia, two meetings of Rosatom specialists and employees of the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology have already taken place.
