Improving the systems of acquisition and management of competences in Radiation Protection

Between November 27 and December 1, 2018, the fifth meeting of the FORO Project “Competences of Personnel of Regulatory Organizations in Medical and Industrial Radiological Applications” was held in Bogotá (Colombia).

The objective of the meeting was to continue with the activities planned in the FORO project on the Human and Organizational Factors thematic area, whose objective is to improve the systems of acquisition and management of competences in terms of radiological protection in the regulatory bodies of the countries of the Ibero-American region.

Main agenda for this fifth meeting of the project:

  • Conclusion of the elaboration of the profile of generic competence of the technical positions of regulators for industrial applications.
  • Definition of guidelines for a training and training plan for regulators of industrial applications prepared on the basis of the profile of competencies and the use of available capacities and resources.
  • Identification of institutions that can provide training to support the establishment and development of competencies of regulators in industrial practice.

The meeting was attended by experts from the regulatory bodies that are members of the FORO of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and the Technical Officer of the IAEA.
