10 Billion US Dollars for Turkish nuclear manufacturers

The president of Nuclear Power Plants Summit in Istanbul and professor at the Hacettepe University Nuclear Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Şule Ergün, pointed out that the Nuclear Power Plant investment in Turkey will reach 42 Billion US Dollars. “10 Billion US Dollars are allocated to local companies in many areas of the nuclear power plant projects.”

Professor Ergün emphasized that the nuclear power plant market in Turkey will have an effect that will increase the business volume for companies operating in fields such as construction, electricity-electronics, machine industry and manufacturing and added: “Thus, new employment areas will be formed and nuclear energy investments will create a new economic potential for Turkish companies.”

The urgent agenda of Turkey’s Nuclear Power Plant market is to indigenize Sinop and Akkuyu nuclear projects and to increase the localization rate.

Professor Ergün indicated that a new generation plant will require about 3,000 valves, 250 pumps, 70 kilometers of piping, 483 kilometers of electrical wire and 90,000 electrical equipments.
