First organized in 1933, the 22nd World Petroleum Congress was realized in Istanbul. Known as one of the most prestigious organizations of the petroleum and natural gas industry welcomed this year, more than 90 countries, 3,000 delegates, 600 speakers, as well as 500 press members and more than 40 high-level participants by all countries and companies of the world’s oil and natural gas sector.
Senior executives, policy makers, decision makers and opinion leaders from leading energy companies such as Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Total and Statoil have made evaluations in panels.
Mr. Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım the Prime Minister, Berat Albayrak, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Alexander Novak, Russian Energy Minister, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, and other countries’ oil and energy ministers were present in the congress.
Albayrak met Yuval Steinitz, the Israeli Minister of Energy, Infrastructure and Water Resources. They decided to speed up negotiations and complete intergovernmental agreements to build pipelines between Turkey and Israel before the end of 2017.
Binali Yıldırım noticed that actors in the energy field were growing, new producer countries were entering into the market and the consumption has shifted from OCED members to Asian developing countries. “Increasing energy efficiency, maximizing the use of renewable sources of energy, achieving the necessary infrastructure for energy storage capacity and using nuclear energy are among the strategies we applied. “
