49 % of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant for sale

49 percent of the shares of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is the first nuclear power plant project of Turkey, were for sale. Interviews are being made to sale of up to 49 percent of shares of Mersin Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

Under the agreement between Turkey and Russia, Russia will build the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which has four units with 4800 MW total installed capacity, representing 20 billion USD investment. While the commissioning of the plant, which postponed several times, is expected to begin operating in early 2022.

Negotiations about sale of up to 49 percent of the shares of Akkuyu NPP, continue with Cengiz Inşaat. This was already a provision in the intergovernmental agreement. Interviews was made previously with the investors. There are also investors in discussion with the Russians.  Last year Cengiz Inşaat won the tender for the turnkey design and construction of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant sea hydro technical structures.
