The manufacturing of the seal housing assembly for the Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) is considered as one of Top 10 priorities for the Hualong in Fuqing 5 and 6.
Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) set up a specific team to provide technical support in the whole process of the CRDM manufacturing. NPIC and Sichuan HuaDu Nuclear Equipment Manufacture Company have successfully passed through the factory acceptance test and shipped the equipment assembly to China First Heavy Industries (CFHI).
The successful delivery of the seal-housing assemblies for Fuqing Unit 5 becomes a new barrier of entry for imported equipment that Areva and Westinghouse in China.
