The 1001 treasures of Belgium

Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, arrived in Brussels on 13th of September 2016 for a three days visit to discuss and improve the nuclear cooperation with Belgium and the European Union. Iran may sign an agreement with a European country for the construction of its 4th Nuclear power plant.

Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi who is also a Vice President of Iran along with other members of Iran will negotiate with the 5+1 group*. Mr. Ali Akbar along with his team will meet with Didier Reynders, Belgium Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, to discuss the cooperation with Belgium and a use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Other meetings with officials from the European Union are organized including:

  • Miguel Arias Cañete (EU Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action in the Juncker Commission since November 2014).
  • Federica Mogherini (High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in the Juncker Commission since November 2014)

*The 5+1 refers to the UN Security Council’s five permanent members namely U.S.A, China, England, France and Russian plus Germany. It’s a group of six world powers, which in 2006 joined together in diplomatic efforts with Iran with regard to its nuclear program.
