The 13th Arab Conference on peaceful uses of atomic energy held by the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA) in collaboration with the National Centre for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (CNSTN) in Hammamet, Tunisia from December 18 to 22, during which over 150 participants from 13 Arab countries meet to share their experience and knowledge in nuclear technologies research.
According to the the head of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA), Mr. Abdelmajid Mahjoub, “Rosatom MENA participation in the 13th AAEA conference on nuclear technologies applications contributed to the success of the conference and gave a chance to the Arab member states to be aware and to know more about Rosatom capabilities, programs and availability for assistance Arab countries willing to construct NPPs for electricity generation and water desalination”.
Rosatom MENA Business Development Manager Sergey Mikheev presented overview of Rosatom projects in the region and gave perspective of collaboration with Rosatom in nuclear areas.
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was represented at the 13th Arab Conference on Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy. During this conference, a Memorandum of understanding between the AAEA and JINR which is aimed at enhancement of cooperation of JINR with the countries of the Arab League was signed. The first actual steps for the implementation of the Memorandum were outlined. So, it is expected that AAEA representatives will arrive in Dubna for detailed acquaintance with the Institute at the end of January 2017.

The CNSTN was established in 1993 to conduct nuclear studies and researches of peaceful nature in various fields and command nuclear technologies, develop and use them for economic and social
development, notably, in the agriculture, industry, energy, environment and medicine fields.
The centre endeavours to carry out all activities aimed at ensuring the development of nuclear science, promoting its various applications and commanding nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes.
