Dr. Yavuz Cabbar, Secretary General of Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) recently commented the improvement of ASO’s investment in the nuclear education and localization of the domestic supply chain. Experts from ASO indicated that many factories cannot become suppliers to the NPP projects due to their incompetence to understand the importance of documentation and certification process in this market.
Dr. Cabbar declared that companies should be trained and certified by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies with the support of ASO. “We are trying to establish this training and certification organization for the Turkish industry”.
In 2016, ASO established a group composed of TUBITAK Marmara Research Institute, Istanbul Technical University, Gedik University, Kocaeli Chamber of Industry and thirty industrial enterprises in Ankara which can produce steel, pressure vessels, software development and engineering.
ASO applied to the cluster support program of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and the project has been approved early this year. It was decided the training center will be established in ASO’s first Industrial Zone. The center aims not only to give training in the nuclear field, but also to provide the production and education for advanced technology sectors so it will be called “Advanced Technology and Nuclear Training Center”.
ASO is trying to get 5 million TL (1.37 Million USD) of support from the Ankara Development Agency for the center and excluding the expenses of the building, a total of 14 million TL (3.84 Million USD) is required.
