Russia getting close to the Egyptian deal

Sources from “Rosatom” revealed at the end of April that a comprehensive contract will soon be signed to build the first nuclear power plant in Egypt “Dabaa”. The chairman of parliament’s Environment and Energy Committee Talaat El-Sewedi declared recently the contract for the construction of the nuclear power plant may be signed in May or June.

Russia and Egypt signed last November an agreement to construct and operate the first nuclear power plant using a Russian technology in Dabaa region. The power plant will consist of four units of 1200 megawatt each. According to agreement, Russia will provide Egypt a loan for a value 25 billion US$ to fund the construction operations that will be implemented for 7 years.
