Emirate’s achievement in nuclear

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) announced the completion of the initial construction of the first nuclear plant in the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy project in Baraka – Zafra area – Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and handing over of all plant systems to the Korean Hydro and nuclear power company to do the necessary tests before starting operations safely.

The completion of the initial construction operations was preceded by the successful test for the thermal performance of the first nuclear power plant at the end of last year, which is considered one of the important pre-operational tests included in the construction license for the first and second plant granted by the Federal authority for nuclear regulation to the Emirates nuclear energy organization in 2012.

Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the CEO of ENEC, said: “The completion of the initial constructions at the first nuclear plant and the handover of all the reactor systems at the first plant is a great accomplishment in this important project to diversify energy sources in the UAE. It is a proof of meeting the highest standards of quality and safety which reflecting the professionalism and dedication of all project staff ” Quoted by the UAE news agency.

It is planned that “Nawawh” for Energy, a joint venture between Emirates nuclear energy corporation and Kepco, will start operating the first nuclear plant after completion of the testing phase successfully by Korean hydro and nuclear power company.
