Nuclear security in Kuwait

The director of the general directorate of firefighting – General: Khaled Al Mekrad, met recently a delegation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Mr. Al Mekrad and the delegation discussed establishment of plans to enhance nuclear security in Kuwait, and to identify the needs to deal with nuclear in general and radiation in particular, including the general directorate of firefighting, as the first line in dealing with accidents of hazardous materials and radiations. They also discussed the coordination of training courses that will reflect positively on the abilities and capabilities of firefighters in dealing with accidents of hazardous materials.

The Agency’s experts praised the capabilities of the general directorate of the firefighting especially the machines, equipment and human cadres in the field of hazardous materials and radiations, after they have seen these capabilities, stressing that the general directorate of firefighting has distinct capabilities in this field.
