Shanghai becomes a center of WANO

With the transformation of the World Nuclear Development Center, the proposal of“World Association of Nuclear Operation (WANO)-Shanghai Center”, initiated and organized by China National Nuclear Cooperation (CNNC), has been passed at the WANO board of directors. It signifies that China has taken a big step in promoting the fifth Region Center of WANO to be settled in Shanghai. The subsequent topics is expected to take effect after the approvals of the WANO General Assembly in this October.

 

According to news, this WANO board of directors also unanimously voted to hold the biennial meeting in 2021 in Shanghai. At that time, all the high-level management and hundreds of international experts will discuss the nuclear safety operation and exchange experience on nuclear safe development.

 

*WANO, founded in May 15, 1989, is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization aiming to develop the safe nuclear operation. It has 4 region-centers–Moscow, Tokyo, Paris and Atlanta and 1 office–London. Its membership almost covers all the commercial nuclear power units in the world.
