UK is Financing Energy Projects in Iraq

The UK Export Finance (operating name of the Export Credits Guarantee Department- ECGD) announced that it will finance two electric-energy projects in Iraq. The companies responsible for constructing these projects are Enka UK and General Electric (GE).

The two power plants will generate 750 MW, are gas-fired power plants, and are located in Dhi Qar and Samawa in southern Iraq.

The projects will nourish the Iraqi energy sector and they are vital because of the increasing demand for electricity. The UK may finance Iraq as these projects go on.

Both the ECGD and the Iraqi and Turkish Department for International Trade teams are working with Enka UK and General Electric to get goods and services from the UK that cost 250 Million USD to deliver these projects.
