The Russian-Saudis bridge

Mr. Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, declared that Moscow intends to carry out the nuclear power projects in Saudi Arabia during press conference with Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Saudi Arabia signed on 18th of June 2014 with Russia a cooperation agreement in peaceful use of nuclear energy field during the visit of the  Saudi deputy crown prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saint Petersburg,.

The agreement includes the supply of nuclear fuel services, the cooperation in the design and commissioning of research reactors, the construction of desalination plants, the production of radio isotopes and its use for nuclear medicine and agriculture fields,  and the nuclear education and training.

The Kingdom plans to build 16 nuclear power plants during the next 25 years to generate 20% of the overall required energy in the Kingdom.
