The President of King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy Dr. Hashem Abdullah Yamani received in his office H.E. the Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom Mr. Li Hua Xin. During their meeting aspects of mutual cooperation between K.A.CARE and the People’s Republic of China in the scope of the peaceful use of atomic and renewable energy within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020 were discussed. A number of K.A.CARE senior officials attended this meeting.
Dr. Hashem Abdullah Yamani signed on Tuesday (22nd of November 2016G) a memorandum of understanding with South Korean National Authority for nuclear safety and security for cooperation in the nuclear regulatory affairs in the peaceful purposes of nuclear technology. The MOU was signed by the Vice President of K.A.CARE Dr. Waleed bin Husain Abulfaraj and Dr. Kim Yong Hawn the Chairman of South Korean nuclear safety and security Department.
The MOU aims at exchanging experiences and practices in the areas of regulating nuclear safety, safeguards and physical protection, radiation protection and relevant research, as well as development in a manner to serve atomic energy programs in the KSA.
The signing of the MOU comes within the framework of the cooperation agreement concluded between the governments of both countries in 2011 regarding the development of peaceful use of nuclear energy for the purpose of building the sustainable atomic energy sector in the Kingdom.
Following that was a meeting of the technical teams of the two sides to discuss and exchange information and activate the promising areas of cooperation in light of the objective of this MOU.
K.A.CARE seeks to set up international partnerships and to develop human cadres and to transfer and to localize the technology to build a sustainable sector of atomic and renewable energy in cooperation with long experienced leading countries such as The South Korean Republic.
