The UAE prioritizes nuclear energy

Mr. Suhail Al Mazrooi, the Emirati Minister of Energy, said that the UAE’s national energy strategy 2050 is to diversify fuel sources and to boost the use of clean energy for the next three decades. Thus, the UAE is investing in nuclear energy, by building the Barakah NPP, to fulfill the increasing demand for power and to achieve sustainable development.

The UAE is hosting the International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century next October in cooperation with the IAEA and the IAE, and it is platform that is specialized in the development of the energy field in different countries. The organization of this conference shows the prioritization of nuclear power in the Emirati national energy strategy 2050 and UAE’s vision 2021.

The launching of Barakah NPP in 2018 will make UAE the first country to execute a new peaceful nuclear energy uses programme in three decades.
