The new cooperation with Russia

Despite foreign lobbying, Iran continues with its nuclear program. On Tuesday, the Persian regime inaugurated a new nuclear power plant in Bushehr during a ceremony held in that port city, located in the south of the country.

Representatives of the Russian nuclear program were part of the inauguration.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), expressed his hope that within seven years Tehran will inaugurate the second unit of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr.

“This is a symbol of strategic cooperation between Russia and Iran,” said Salehi during the ceremony.

“The Shura Council has allowed us to produce 20,000 megawatts of nuclear energy, as part of the development plan that will end in 2025,” he said.

The head of the AEOI explained that because Iran is a country with scarce resource of water, it is compulsory to build only small nuclear power plants.

In November 2014, the Iranian development companies signed two agreements for 10 billion dollars with Russian companies for the construction of power plants to produce electricity.

The capacity of the new plants will be approximately 2,100 megawatts.
