The Nuclear Medicine School Foundation (FUESMEN), has just incorporated the first integrated service of Clinical Neurosciences and Neuromodulation of Argentina, which consists of the integration of high-tech diagnostic imaging systems inaugurated in 2015, consisting of a PET-MRI, hybrid technology integrated by a Nuclear Magnetic Resonator of 3 Tesla and a positron emission tomograph, which incorporates a transdisciplinary group of neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, psychologists, neuropsychologists and other professionals in the area of neurosciences.
It is the first Clinical Neuroscience Service and the Neuromodulation Unit of Argentina. This new center will help detect and apply treatments to neurological diseases in very early stages.
In 1991, it was the first PET center in the Spanish-speaking countries, and in 2015 , Argentina inaugurated the first PET-MRI in Latin America. Today, more than 25 years since its creation by the Government of the Province of Mendoza, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), and the National University of Cuyo, continues to be at the forefront in the field, not only the Nuclear Medicine, but also of neurosciences, especially in neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, dementias), epilepsies, neuropsychiatric, pain, sphincter disorders and tumors of the nervous system, adding to the pioneering service of General Neurology, Sleep Laboratory and EEG, inaugurated in January of 2014.
As a result of this new service in the “FUESMEN”, not only will be able to continue innovating in basic and clinical research and in higher education, but it will also be able to implement transdisciplinary studies to complex neurological patients, benefiting them with an early, accurate and better-informed diagnosis. value / quality, offering society a specialized service of the highest human, professional and technological level, in order to solve the problems of the population, not only of Mendoza, but also of the rest of Argentina and the Region.
