Rosatom communication department declared on November 12th that the fourth phase of Tianwan nuclear power plant undertaken by Russia will start the construction by 2021.

“We have built four units in Tianwan nuclear power plant with our Chinese partners, which laid foundation for the new project execution. Two sides will continue to cooperate on the basis of Gen III+ technology. Though the construction schedule is quite tight, we should carry out the FCD for Tianwan Unit 7 by 2021.”

In June, Russia and China signed an intergovernmental protocol and framework contract on Russia’s participation in the construction of the fourth phase of Tianwan nuclear power plant. Unit 7 of Tianwan is expected to be operational by 2026.
