CNNC seeks further cooperation with Saudi Arabia

On April 25th, Gu Jun, the general manager of China National Nuclear Corporation, met in Beijing with Khalid A. Al-Falih, Minister of Energy and Mines of Saudi Arabia. The two sides exchanged views on China’s nuclear power, uranium resources development, and high-temperature reactor project cooperation.

Falih said that in addition to participating in the “Belt and Road” forum, he also had an important mission to follow up on the agreement reached between two countries and to promote the “Saudi 2030 Vision” to connect with “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Saudi Arabia is willing to cooperate with CNNC, a very powerful large group, and two sides will firmly promote mutual cooperation. He said that the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mines and other relevant government departments will strengthen exchanges with CNNC and strive for early and substantial progress.

Gu Jun said that China National Nuclear Corporation has several advantages in promoting Sino-Saudi nuclear energy cooperation. First, China National Nuclear Corporation has a full industrial chain of the nuclear industry; second, China has a complete supporting manufacturing industry chain; third, China National Nuclear Corporation has been developing nuclear power steadily. It can provide long-term technical services; Fourth, CNNC has rich experience in localization. Gu Jun invited Falih to visit the “Hualong No. 1” nuclear power plant and other related nuclear facilities of CNNC to understand the development of China National Nuclear Corporation’s entire industrial chain.
