China plans to invest US $ 5.5 billion on two new nuclear projects

On May 6th, Qinghai Province, northwest of China, issued the “Notice of Major Pre-Projects in the Province in 2019”, ( [2019] No. 55). The notice clearly states that the province plans to build another two nuclear energy projects with a total investment of 38 billion yuan (US $ 5.5 billion).

Among them, the nuclear heating demonstration project is planned to build a low-temperature heating reactor, which is planned to be completed in 2020-2024 with a total investment of 4 billion yuan; the nuclear power generation project is planned to build 2 sets of 10 million units, and the construction is planned to be completed in 2022-2027. Two sets of 10 million units will be built with a total investment of 34 billion yuan.

The main tasks of the two projects in 2019 are to complete the preparation and review of the general site selection report and initiate the preparation of the preliminary scientific report.
