China announced nuclear policy at IAEA meeting

On June 10, the IAEA Board of Governors Meeting was held in Vienna. Zhang Jianhua, deputy director of China National Atomic Energy Agency, led a delegation to attend the meeting and announced China’s nuclear energy development policy in the annual report review.

Zhang Jianhua put forward three suggestions for the future development of IAEA: It should actively adjust its work priorities according to the world nuclear energy development situation and the needs of member states and continue to provide strong support to member states; continue to promote nuclear safety standards and nuclear security guidelines and build a high level nuclear safety and security system; institutions and member states should promote exchanges and cooperation under the principle of “equality cooperation, cooperation and win-win, open sharing”.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Zhang Jianhua met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, and witnessed the signing of the Agreement between Chinese National Atomic Energy Agency and International Atomic Energy Agency on Interns.

NβN tip: China has always adhered to the development concept of “innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing”. It is willing to share the achievements of nuclear energy development with institutions and member states to jointly build a community of nuclear energy.
