Rosatom will build a Center for Nuclear Science in Vietnam

Rosatom signed with Vietnam a memorandum to build a Center for Nuclear Science and Technology, last May, on the margins of the talks between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Suan Fouk, which took place in Moscow.

The Director General of Rosatom State Corporation Alexei Likhachev and Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Ty Ngoc Anh signed the document.

Russia and Vietnam in have signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST), November 2011, which provides for equipping it with a research nuclear reactor, research laboratories, equipment, and necessary infrastructure. In June 2017, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation plan for the construction of the CNST. Russia and Vietnam will work on the possibility of settlements in national currencies.

At present, Russian-Vietnamese consultations are underway on further steps on the project, a contractual scheme for its implementation is discussed. The Vietnamese side is expected to allocate a state loan of the Russian Federation for the construction of a CNST.

Besides, cooperation agreements were signed between the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam, Business Russia and the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and also between the Associations of Lawyers of the two countries.

Following the talks, in the presence of the premiers of the two countries, a program of cooperation between the Russian and Vietnamese construction ministries for 2019-2024 was also signed.

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of Vietnam also signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of geodesy, cartography and spatial data infrastructure, the registration system, property valuation, and land use planning on the areas of the meeting.

Besides, the government of the Kaluga Region and the People’s Committee of the Vietnamese province of Binthuan agreed on the implementation of international and foreign economic relations in the trade, economic and socio-cultural spheres.
