Amid the continuation of official communications between international companies and the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity to join the race to acquire the 3 – Siemens developed – power plants, the Ministry of Electricity received the sixth offer, which included a letter of interest to invest in the three stations located in the Administrative Capital, Beni Suef and Al-Brollus.
The sixth bid is offered by China Datang Co., following previous offers made by: the Malaysian company Edra, Zarou of the American Blackstone Group, the English Actis Capital, the French Engie, and the English company, Benchmark Power International.
The Chinese company said that it has expertise in this field, proven through the implementation and operation of about 150,000 MW worldwide.
The three stations, operating with combined cycle system, have a total capacity of 14.4 thousand MW, and officially started operating in July 2018. The three stations cost 6 billion euros (about $6.73 billion US), and were funded by a group of lenders, notably Deutsche Bank, HSBC Holdings and KFW Apex.
