China approves the launch of three new nuclear projects

China National Energy Administration (NEA) recently approved the construction of three new nuclear power projects in Rongcheng, Shandong Province, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province and Taipingling, Guangdong Province.

At the regular press conference of NEA on July 25, Li Fulong, director of the Development Planning Department of NEA, announced that Shandong Rongcheng, Fujian Zhangzhou and Guangdong Taipingling nuclear power projects were approved for construction. Three and a half years has passed since there is such official statement to confirm the new construction of nuclear power projects in China. It signifies the domestic nuclear power projects have revived in a strict sense. According to the “Finance” reporter, the three approved projects were respectively approved in principle at the two State Council executive meetings at the end of 2018 and early 2019, and the Shandong Rongcheng project has already started the construction.
