Project Training and Licensing of Reactor Operators in Latin America

At the end of July, the project “Training and Licensing of Reactor Operators,” within the framework of the Ibero-American Forum of Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Organizations (FORUM), started the first meeting at the Council headquarters of Nuclear Safety (CSN) of Spain.

This project aims to improve regulatory practices in the process of training and licensing of operating personnel. The training promoted technical exchange, comparison, development of documentation, methodologies, and support tools for regulatory bodies.

The participants agreed to develop a guide of regulatory criteria and a guide of good practices. The planned training and licensing program for staff shall use this guide.

Cristián Sepúlveda, from the Division of Nuclear and Radiological Safety of the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission (CCHEN), together with representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and Peru, attended this first meeting.
