INB exports monazite to China

INB’s Heavy Minerals Unit in Buena shipped three hundred tons of monazite to China on September 24.

The export is the result of a contract signed in August with HMC. Representatives of the Chinese company met with President Carlos Freire Moreira at INB’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Also present were the director of Mineral Resources, Rogério Mendes Carvalho, and the superintendent of Strategic Planning and Commercialization, João Carlos Derzi Tupinambá, among others.

This was not the first agreement between the two companies to export monazite. Since 2011, more than 13,400 tons of the material was sold to the Chinese company.
