Iran has inaugurated the construction works for the second unit of the Bushehr nuclear plant on Sunday, November 10. Ali Akbar Salehi, Iranian Vice President and President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, together with Alexander Lokshin, assistant director of the Russian Rosatom, both laid the foundation stone for the second reactor at Bushehr, southwest Iran.
The plan of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization also includes building a third reactor at Bushehr, with the second and third phases of the Bushehr plant entering service in 2025 and 2027.
Salehi stated that after six years, more than 90% of contractors work with nearly 2,000 experts on the plant, and most of the workers in the plant are Iranian. He pointed out that all sections of the Bushehr plant have become “local” and are provided annually with new equipment and parts by local experts.
