Britain’s Aggreko announced on 27 November that all its generators working at Shabwa power plant have been turned off as a result of the Yemeni government’s failure to meet its annual financial dues and debt obligations.
A local source said: “The city of Ataq and the directorates of Shabwa live in total darkness, after the announcement of the operator of the electricity (Aggreko) to shut down all its generators working in the power plant in Ataq, Shabwa …”.
In the same context, citizens in the province expressed dissatisfaction with the blackout that plunged the province in total darkness.
