The Acting Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Svetlana Zubova, has announced that preparations for the construction of the first Egyptian nuclear power plant in El-Dabaa region by the company “Rosatom” are underway according to the set schedule.
“Documents are being prepared for obtaining a nuclear license from the Atomic Regulatory Authority and the Authority for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security to build the nuclear power plant. After that, it will be possible to start full implementation of the project,” Zubova said on February 11th.
“All the work on El-Dabaa project will be carried out according to the set schedule,” Zubova said.
The construction of the first 1200 MW VVER-1200 unit in the El-Dabaa project is expected to start in the second half of 2020, and the first unit of the nuclear power plant is planned to be operational by 2026.
