October 26th – The British Petroleum company “BP”, in an official statement, announced the start of gas production in the Qatameya field, its latest offshore discovery in Egypt, in partnership with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
The project was developed by the Pharaonic Joint Venture (EGAS – BP consortium).
The Qatameya field is located in a concession area in the north of Damietta’s marine borders. It is expected that its production will reach 50 million square feet of gas daily, from one well, which is connected to the infrastructure under the sea.
North Africa Regional Director Karim Alaa assured: “BP’s assets and its existing marine infrastructure have contributed to the development of the Qatameya field in an efficient and economical manner. It is fundamental to BP’s development strategy.”
The statement emphasized the company’s ability to safely produce on schedule during a phase characterized by many challenges.
