Equipping nuclear icebreakers with radiation monitoring systems

On November 22, 2022, the Baltic Shipyard launched the fourth icebreaker of project 22220, Yakutia. After launching, the icebreaker will be completed on a special embankment of the Baltic Shipyard.

Doza will supply the Phoenix ASRK, developed for Project 22220 nuclear icebreakers, to Yakutia. The company has already begun production of the system, and installation of the ASRK on the icebreaker will begin in September 2023.

“Phoenix” is an automated radiation monitoring system developed by NPP “Doza” to monitor the radiation parameters of nuclear icebreakers, ships, and floating structures. It belongs to the fifth generation of radiation monitoring systems and has no analogs in the world. Thanks to innovative engineering solutions, a high degree of standardization, and the use of modern information technologies, a unique combination of reliability and ease of use has been achieved in Phoenix.

ASRK “Phoenix” carries out continuous radiation monitoring on the nuclear icebreakers “50 Years of Victory”, “Arktika”, “Ural”, “Siberia”, and the vessel “Rossita” for the transportation of liquid radioactive waste.
