Air Liquide and Total Energy announced that they will form a joint venture (50/50) to develop a network of hydrogen refueling stations on major European roads to refuel heavy trucks.
The two parties are committed to deploying more than 100 hydrogen refueling stations on major roads in France, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Germany, etc. in the next few years. These sites are part of the Total Energy brand.
Under this agreement, Air Liquide and Total Energy will form a joint venture in the field of hydrogenation solutions to help decarbonize road transport in Europe. The two parties will combine know-how and expertise in infrastructure, hydrogen distribution, and transport: Air Liquide will provide expertise and management capabilities across the hydrogen value chain, and Total Energy will provide its site network operations management and support for B2B Expertise in energy distribution for customers.
The joint venture, jointly managed by Air Liquide and Total Energy, will invest in, build and operate these hydrogen refueling stations, procure hydrogen from the market, and supply it to transport customers. The joint venture is planned to be established in 2023, subject to the finalization of relevant contractual documents and the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.
