Germany ends the use of nuclear energy next April

German Environment Minister Steffi Lemke has confirmed that Germany is set to stop using nuclear energy within weeks. The German Environment Minister said, during press statements, that the date for phasing out the use of nuclear energy remains mid-April, and she continued: “The risks of nuclear energy cannot be controlled in the end.”

It is noteworthy that the German government decided last year to extend the operation of the three remaining nuclear power plants in Germany, which were scheduled to end at the end of last year in first place, until the next April 15.

Lukas Köhler, deputy head of the parliamentary bloc of the Free Democratic Party in the German parliament “Bundestag”, recently warned of the rapid dismantling of the three stations, and the Christian Union wants to keep these stations ready for use at least.

According to media reports, the advent of winter this year in Germany with relatively mild temperatures helped to a large extent to prevent a crisis in the energy supply to citizens, especially with the enormous preparations made by the Berlin government to secure its gas reserves and provide alternative sources of Russian gas, which Its flow stopped last August. However, the risk of a crisis still looms on the horizon, which requires Berlin to provide other sources of energy from within its territory instead of relying on countries such as Qatar, the United States, and Norway.
