A new nuclear plant in Bangladesh

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov declared recently that Moscow was assessing its participation in the construction of a new nuclear power plant in southern Bangladesh.

“The prime minister of Bangladesh has plans to build two new units in southern Bangladesh, so we have an opportunity to cooperate with them,” Borisov said.

In 2017, an intergovernmental committee on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation had been set up and the relations between Russia and Bangladesh in major strategic and technological areas.

“There is a prospective for development in the industry and science, in science-based areas such as energy and space, and military-technical cooperation” Borisov concluded.
