A strategy to increase Iranian electricity exports to Iraq

The CEO of Iran’s western region electricity company, Ali Asadi, has announced a new strategy to increase exports of electricity to Iraq.

Asadi said in a press interview that the Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Company of the Iranian Ministry of Energy has adopted a new strategy to increase the volume of electricity exports to Iraq. As the capacity of production and the development of the transmission and distribution network in the western region is being increased, there is potential to double the electricity exported to Iraq, which is currently estimated at 600 MW.

The Executive Director pointed out that: “Iran exports energy in significant quantities to neighboring countries through the network of the Western region. The electricity company in this region is an energy export channel to Iraq”.
