Veysi Kaynak, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister mentioned the current energy projects in the General Assembly on 1st of July:
- Nuclear Power Plants are of great importance in terms of diversification of energy resources, reduction of natural gas dependence and security of supply. A total of 35 billion kW of electricity from Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and 33 billion kW of electricity from Sinop Nuclear Power Plant will be produced annually which will met about 26% of the current electricity demand when the power plants are taken into operation.
- Concerning the support of electricity generation from domestic and renewable energy sources, he mentioned that 30 per cent of electricity generation is foreseen to be produced from renewable sources in 2023.
- Iraq-Turkey Natural Gas Pipeline Project will pass through Turkey in 2018.
- TANAP (Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project) extending from Georgia to Greece and / or Bulgaria with 1.850 km length has started to construction of pipelines in 2017. It is foreseen that Turkey will be supplied in 2018 and Europe in 2020.
- There are 176 operational Hydro-electric centrals in the Black Sea Region, other 47 are in their construction phases. These projects can cover 18% of the country’s energy needs.
