“Akkuyu is just our first nuclear project”

Ibrahim Halil Dere, Head of Nuclear Energy Project Implementation Department, from the Ministry Energy and Natural Resources, declared this week that “Akkuyu was our first nuclear project, but it will not be the last”.

An Informative seminar was organized in Mersin for Turkey ‘s first nuclear power plant Akkuyu project, by Akkuyu NGS Inc, representatives of Akkuyu, the Secretary General of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) Yavuz Cabbar and Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) Secretary General Abdulkadir Dölek.

Anton Dedusenko, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Akkuyu NGS AS, also declared  that Rosatom already started the realization of the project. “Since April 3, we started the concrete work. The project is progressing in an active way. This project is a great investment. An investment that will contribute to the Republic of Turkey’s economy when it will supply electricity in 2023  and there are great opportunities for suppliers.”.

Emphasizing the importance of local procurement, Dedusenko continued:

“Our experience shows that a minimum of 40 percent of local suppliers are always involved in projects, but the number increase. that depends on suppliers, their quality and their safety culture”.
