Akkuyu and Novovoronej-2 twinning process

Vladimir Zarubayev, Chief Engineer of Novovoronej-2, explained that Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will technically have the same characteristics as Novovoronej-2 power plant in Russia’s Voronezh region.
He indicated that the main components of the plant, such as turbines, automation, control systems and support units, were designed according to Russia’s highest nuclear technology. He added that the project has two separate security systems such as passive and active which will prevent radioactive leakage at the time of hurricane earthquakes up to 9 magnitude, floods as well as extraordinary situations such as explosions or aircraft bombardment.

There has not been any radioactive mobility even once in the Novovoronej-2 power station area, which has been operating for 53 years. The Novovoronej-2 plant, which is about 600 kilometers from the capital Moscow, has 1200 megawatts installed power and is Russia’s highest-capacity new generation “3+ VVER-1200 reactor”. The electricity need of 2.3 million people living in the region is met by the plant installed on 52 thousand square kilometer area. Dozens of experts and students from Turkey are receiving trainings in the plant.
