Atommash is manufacturing the first RPV for Turkey

Atommash produced the bottom of the reactor pressure vessel of the first unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS), which is currently under construction in neighborhood of Gülnar district of Mersin. Atommash belongs to Atomenergomash.

Atommash Director Rovshan Abbasov said the production cycle of a reactor pressure vessel in Atommash takes more than two years. When Atommash is manufacturing the first RPV for Turkey, the company must comply not only with Russian norms and rules for NGS equipment but also with the national standards of Turkey. In October 2018, the plant gained the necessary experience by producing and delivering a steam generator set for the Indian Nuclear Power Plant.

In the statement, Akkuyu NGS was given the following information: “’AEM Technology’ is the first of the NGS producers who have received official approval certificate as a manufacturer. No. TR-10-003 Certification on September 19, 2017 was given by Turkey Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK).

Akkuyu NGS’s reference power plant is a nuclear power plant project of Novovoronezh NPP-2 in the Voronezh region of Russia, whose first unit was commercialized on February 27, 2017. Akkuyu NGS service life will be 60 years.
