The CPC Central Committee and the State Council recently approved the “Blueprint for Xiong’an New District in Hebei Province”, in which, it states to “guarantee energy supply security in the New District”.
New District will rely on the existing UHV power grid in south of Hebei province and at the same time use wind power and optoelectronics in the northern areas to form a trans-regional, long-distance, and large-capacity power transmission grid. Integrating with the North China Power Grid, it will construct the transmission and distribution network in the region and provide energy storage and emergency facilities.
Xiong’an New Districtwas established in April 2017, the area is located about 100 km southwest of Beijing. Its main function is to serve as a development hub for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic triangle and plans to use coastal nuclear power.
