Bolivia will receive the first phase of the nuclear center in 2019

Rosatom builds the Nuclear Research Center and the Technology Center on an area of ​​15 hectares. The project includes a nuclear research reactor.

The company will deliver “the first phase of elements that are part of the Center for Nuclear Research and the Technological Center of Bolivia before the end of 2019.

According to Rosatom, the design and construction work of the center is being carried out within the schedule set out in the contract.

This center is in the city of El Alto, located at 4,000 meters above sea level.

The project, which will require an investment of 300 million dollars, includes a low-power nuclear research reactor, a cyclotron-radiopharmacy center, a multipurpose irradiation plant, and a nuclear research laboratory and training.

The facilities will occupy 15 hectares, including energy, medical, and agri-food research facilities.

The construction of the center is part of the civilian nuclear energy plan for peaceful purposes announced by the Bolivian Government in 2014, with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
