Tunisia and China have signed an agreement to promote cooperation between the two countries in the renewable energies sector in order to achieve a sustainable energy transition.
According to the Tunisian Ministry of Industry and SMEs, in a statement on Wednesday (April 24th), the agreement provides for the exchange of experience and expertise between the two countries in the fields of planning and development, as well as the development of renewable energy projects, energy efficiency, solar energy, concentrated solar energy and Electricity Transmission.
In this context, Tunisian Minister of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises Slim Al-Feriani stressed the importance of upgrading bilateral economic relations between Tunisia and China and promoting various aspects of cooperation, especially in the sectors of industry, energy and renewable energies.
Al-Feriani pointed out that the ministry’s strategy has prepared a road map to promote investment in the renewable energies sector and to provide incentives and privileges to investors to achieve 30% of electricity production from renewable energies by 2030.
Liu Baohua, assistant director of the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China, said that his country plans to develop cooperation with Tunisia in various vital sectors, praising the Tunisian government’s efforts to improve the business environment and attract the largest number of investors.
