China goes 3D Printing in Nuclear

CNNC Nuclear Fuel Co. and China Nuclear Energy Association Computerization Special Committee inaugurated recently a seminar “Application of 3D Printing Technology in the nuclear industry”.

This exchange invited 3D experts, R&D scientists from CNNC and CGN and domestic manufacturers. Participants shared principles, application requirements and references of 3D printing technology in R&D, design, processing and manufacturing for the nuclear industry.

This seminar aimed to implement the nuclear Computerization to overcome technical hurdles in 3D printing and to lay the fundamentals and standards of the application.

The exchange stressed that under the national strategy of “integrating IT application with manufacturing”, nuclear industry Computerisation became an essential part to promote the technical upgrade in the nuclear energy. The successful application of 3D technology in manufacturing nuclear fuel component paved a starting way to build “digital NPP and Intelligent nuclear operation”.
