China’s NNSA collaborates with Morocco on nuclear safety regulation

On November 4th, the fifth session of IAEA conference on Regulatory System Effectiveness of Nuclear and Radiation Safety was organized in The Hague, Netherlands. Liu Hua, deputy minister of Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA), led a delegation to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech.

The conference is held every 3-4 years and is an important platform for the nuclear safety regulatory authorities of various countries to share experience and good practices. This four-day conference features “joining hands and strengthening cooperation”, attracting early 300 representatives from different countries and relevant international organizations. The MEE delegation made special reports around the topics of nuclear facilities supervision, radiation and medical facilities management and emergency preparedness and response.

On the sidelines of the conference, Liu Hua met with several leaders from different nuclear safety regulatory authorities, and signed a memorandum of understanding on nuclear and radiation safety regulatory cooperation with Moroccan Nuclear and Radiation Safety & Security Administration. Both sides agree to jointly address nuclear and radiation safety issues of common concern on bilateral cooperation.
