“Dabaa” nuclear station will link Egypt to Russia for 60 years

Cairo and Moscow have completed harmonization of one of the four key commercial contracts on the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt’s north, Egyptian Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi said

Shaker added that the first phase of Egypt’s nuclear program to generate 4,800 megawatts in Dabaa will connect Egypt to Russia for 60 years

According to a source in the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity, the wording of the remaining three decades for the supply of nuclear fuel, and re-use of nuclear fuel, maintenance and operation of the station,  will end in a month to be reviewed before the date of signature.

Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dabaa NPP, consisting of four nuclear power units, 1,200 megawatt (MW) each, on the Mediterranean Sea coast in November 2015. It is set to become the largest construction project carried out by Russia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.

” Akhachev” praised in a television interview on the channel “Russia -24″ Russian, the performance of the agency and its successes on the Russian and international levels, saying: ” This year was successful to a large extent, where we carried out 100% of the Russian defense contracts , so maintaining the required defense capability level and the security of Russia, and we recorded a record in the field of electrical energy production, by passing the desired objective by about 1.5 billion kilowatts. ”

 

On the international level, he singled referring to the entry of a number of “Rosatom” agreements into force with international partners, which include nuclear power plants in each of Bangladesh, India, Iran, Turkey and Egypt.

As a result of the first day of official visit of Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, in Egypt, a dozen of documents on cooperation in different areas have been signed.

The business issues were in the focus of attention of the discussion. Alexander Lukashenko and his counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, agreed on further build-up of relations, increase of Belarusian export and establishment of industrial cooperation.
In particular, the countries will cooperate in the field of nuclear energy, mechanical engineering and construction industry. Alexander Lukashenko and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi signed a joint declaration on relations development.
