Egypt, Jordan and GCCIA sign MOU for electricity interconnection

Egyptian Minister of Energy and Electricity, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Jordanian Minister of Energy, Hala Zawati, and Sheikh Nawaf Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), signed an agreement on the electrical linkage between the Egyptian – Jordanian side and the GCCIA at the League of Arab States, on November 5th.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Gaber Desouki, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Eng. Sabah Mashaly, President of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, and Eng. Amjad Al Rawashdeh, the Chairman of the Jordanian Energy Company.

The agreement will include studying the most appropriate way of connecting the GCCIA with the Jordanian – Egyptian networks; in preparation for implementing the electrical networking with Europe in the future.
