Egyptian-Russian cooperation in the nuclear field at Cairo University

 Representatives of Rosatom, and Russian universities visited major universities of Egypt recently and discussed opportunities for cooperation and development of educational programmes.

During its four-day trip, the Russian delegation visited Alexandria University, the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Marine Transport, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, and Egyptian Russian University.

The Russian delegation included representatives of National Research Nuclear University (MEPhi), Ural Federal University, National Research Moscow State Construction University (NRU MGRS), Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

During this trip  the Faculty of Engineering at the Cairo University organized on March 20th a worksho in the presence of Dr. Amr Adly, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Sayed Taj Eddin Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and several professors of the Faculty .of Engineering and Science experts..

Dr. Amr Adly, Vice-President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies and Research, stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy and the training of human cadres to work in nuclear plants, including the new Dabaa station in Egypt

Still during  the visit, Alexandria University and MEPhi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which open doors for future mutual nuclear research and development programmes. The document also enables both universities to share infrastructure capabilities and R&D results and methodologies while promoting students exchange programmes.

Karzan Valery, director of educational programmes and international relations of Rosatom State Corporation, confirmed Russia’s support in providing scientific, technical and research support to Egypt as well as the nuclear field in order to build the new nuclear plant in Egypt. Cooperation in the training of human cadres qualified to work at the Dabaa nuclear plant in Egypt.
