Electricity company revenue is expected to decline due to Coronavirus

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company may suffer decline in revenues to negative levels during the current fiscal year; as there are industrial sectors that were greatly affected by the Coronavirus and measures taken to combat the spread of the epidemic. This is according to the expectations of an official of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.

The epidemic has stalled many large users, in addition to the companies that feed the tourism sector in Egypt after the stop of the tourism business.

The negative impact will result from three cases: the first is the impact of the major users; the second is the reduction of loads in large proportions; and the third case being a result of reducing the price of the electricity tariff by 10 piasters for all industrial sectors on all voltages, as part of the country’s decisions to reduce the financial burden on them in the face of this great crisis.
